This new musical is absolutely fantastic and is likely to do very well when it hits Broadway this season. Christy is perfectly cast as Anya, and she has great chemistry with Derek, Mary, and the rest of the cast. The music, sets, and costumes are all beautifully done as well. This is nearly perfectly captured with no obstruction and just a couple quick very dropouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes playbill scans.

A fantastic capture of the Hollywood Bowl's annual Broadway show. This production follows the 2009 revival staging fairly closely with some occasional improvised lines and different blocking to accommodate the larger stage. The cast is full of energy; Hunter and Benjamin make a great pair. Kristen's voice isn't as strong as the others, but she's still fun to watch. Amber was the standout for me; she kills all of her solos. Filmed on a tripod, so it's very steady except for the occasional jerkiness when panning. There is a bit of grain in the video due to the distance from the stage, but it's well captured with no blackouts. The only obstruction happens when someone briefly walks across the walkway in front of the camera. It's filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent as usual. Includes curtain call, encore, and playbill scans.

This is a “Producer's Reference Tape”, which was filmed so that future touring companies would have a reference, and ensure that choreography, blocking, direction, etc. would remain consistent in future productions. Filmed using two cameras with sound patched in from the soundboard. This has been listed as 1977/1978 often, however, there was there was no Tuesday December 17th in 1977, 1978, 1994 or 1995. Only in 1996. The tour was in Melbourne, FL Dec 17th-19th 1996. As this is in December 1996, Jay Garner and Florence Lacey were replaced by Herman Petras and Jeanne Lehman respectively.

Overall, it's a pretty decent capture of the show, considering it's my first video master.

They paused the show for several minutes then everyone reset and they restarted from a few minutes prior. First act does have some obstructions. The whole stage is usually visible just left side and bottom of screen are blacked out from a railing at times to varying degrees. Video starts about 30 seconds into each act. Second act is less obstructed with very clear beautiful captures of I'd Rather Be Me, World Burn, and More Is Better with great zooms. Kendra Kassebaum was such a phenomenal Diana - her acting was out of this world! Shot in 16:9 widescreen, a tad dark in some low-light scenes, but no obstructions at all. One brief blackout for the first minute of "Why Stay?" when a battery change was necessary. But also included (at the end of the DVD) is a clip of "Why Stay?" shot in its entirety from 2 days prior to make up for that. Quick drop-outs for applause. Also, the angle where my seat was weird, so there's slight tilt in the video. Audio fed in from external source, so the audio is nice and clear.

A nice capture overall; the biggest flaw here is the obstruction. There are a lot of heads that were very difficult to work around, but the show is still captured well and the actors are only occasionally blocked for a few seconds at a time. There are some very quick dropouts, but no major blackouts. It's filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes playbill scans.
