Ann Harada's last performance. Super funny blooper when Gaelen's scarf got tangled in the wire of her mic, and Allison Janney struggled to untie it while trying to ad-lib her way out of it, and when she finally unties it, Allison dramatically collapses on a desk in exasperation.

After an initial workshop with Dolores Gray as Bea and a month of rehearsals preparing for this second workshop, it became clear to everyone, including Ms. Gray, that she could not handle the demands of the role. Dorothy had just rejoined the cast of Annie, after 8 months off due to the death of her husband in 1977. Director Michael Bennett was hesitant to ask her to do the show because of the plot which revolved around a lonely widow. Dorothy jumped at the chance and asked the producers of Annie to release her from her contract—which they did, but if the show was a flop, they asked if she'd return to Annie (it was, and she did). At the time of this workshop, Dorothy had only been rehearsing for a week or so. Michael Bennett narrates, with piano accompaniment for the songs. A little echoey since it was presented in a rehearsal studio.

Allegedly a comps night or something along those lines, so the house packed with people in theatre industry in the audience, hence WILD entrance applause for queen Donna Murphy and very enthusiastic reactions to everything! Super fun if you like that kind of energy in a show.

A fantastic quality audio taken from the Rear Mezzanine. Crystal clear quality. There's some chatter during the Entr'acte but it subsides later on. Bernadette got some thunderous applause for scenes and fun moments. There's a little funny audience interaction moment during Santino's monologue during "It Only Takes a Moment" where he breaks character. Includes Bernadette and Victor's BC/EFA speech.

Stage Monitor/Squawk Box recording. Recording tape ran out after "When I'm Drunk I'm Beautiful" at the performance. Collectors should note that a composite tape is usually circulated which consists of this tape with the addition of "I'm Doin' Okay in My Own Way," the final reprise of "Prettybelle," and some dialogue all from the dialogue-edited tape. This gives the impression of a "complete" live recording of Prettybelle. No true complete recording is known to exist.

Lansbury goes up on her lyrics during “Worst Pies in London” and “By the Sea,” and ends up singing a series of “la la la's” for several bars on the latter.
